Premier a Success!

Last Friday night (June 19th), we ho

sted a viewing party for our documentary at PT's at College Hill in Topeka, Kansas. It was a success! I would estimate that we had around 50 people come out to watch "Kodak in the Congo." Most visitors were supportive family members and friends, but some had seen our article in the Topeka Capitol-Journal (link here: http://m.cjonline.com/news/2015-06-14/washburn-rural-students-compete-unsung-heroes-competition#gsc.tab=0) and were interested in seeing it!

We "premiered" the documentary and then did a short presentation on how Lexi discovered Alice, an overview of the Lowell Milken Center, and the present conditions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We had a jar to donate to an organization called Heal Africa, which works in the Congo to provide communities with facilities, education, and basic necessities. We ended up raising about $55.00! Afterwards, we had local musicians Michael Stratton and Jarrod Guth perform. It was a great night and I want to give a huge thanks to everyone who made this night possible, especially Bita Givechi and Jeff Taylor at PT's!
